Services


Emerald Marine employ a number of higly experienced and motivated consutlants offering a broad suite of consultancy services for the marine environment. Emerald Marine offer project management services and have experience in managing fisheries projects, undertaking cetacean and ornithological surveys, and overseeing the implementation of environmental mitigation measures. All projects are completed to in a timely and cost effective fashion, with deliverables attaining an extremely high standard.

Emerald Marine offer data collection services and can supply field ecologists for a variety of studies. We have particular experience in supplying Marine Mammal Observers and PAM operators to implement mitigation measures in both inshore and offshore environments, as well as Fisheries Observers for data collection aboard both commercial fishing vessels and research survey vessels. Emerald Marine also offer data input services, including comprehensive quality control and validation of data sets, and have extensive experience of handling large data sets.

Paddy O'Dwyer

Paddy O’Dwyer holds a BSc. in Applied Freshwater and Marine Biology. Paddy has previously worked as a self-employed marine mammal observer and has gained considerable experience in this field.  Paddy has gained project management experience managing by-catch studies, as well as a national catch sampling programme. Paddy has taken part in a wide variety of scientific surveys as well as implementing mitigation measures on numerous projects. During this time he has gained a in-depth knowledge of marine mammal ecology, biology and behaviours, and the various survey techniques that can be used to record and study these aspects.  These attributes combined  make him an excellent ecologist whether based in the field or in the office.

Enda McKeogh

Enda McKeogh is a graduate of the BSc Freshwater and Marine Biology degree (Hons) in the Galway Mayo Institute of Technology. Enda has been a self-employed environmental consultant since 2012 where he began working on contracts including marine mammal mitigation, marine mammal surveying and fisheries bycatch observer and has experience of project management across these fields. He is an experienced marine mammal surveyor in both visual and acoustic methods and has participated in and led numerous surveys. Enda has provided marine mammal mitigation expertise across a broad range of survey types, his knowledge and experience of  mitigation guidelines make him an invaluable member of any mitigation team.

John Power

John Power is a BSc. graduate of Applied Freshwater and Marine Biology from GMIT, and has worked extensively as a marine environmental consultant.  John has extensive project management experience with responsibility for projects including; co-ordination of Ireland's national catch sampling program, offshore cetacean line transect surveys, ornithological surveys, co-ordination of observers for commercial gear trials and management of by-catch reduction schemes. John has supplied survey support and fisheries sampling services to the Marine Institute for a number of years and has taken part in a range of scientific research surveys. John has extensive survey and mitigation experience, and an excellent knowledge of marine mammal behaviour, ecology and line transect survey techniques.
